The Google Cloud Unified Fulfillment Optimization (UFO) team serves Alphabet clients, including Google Search, YouTube, Gmail, etc., and their billions of users, with networking capacity (25-40% of the internet!).Â
As the UX Architect on the team, I was responsible for streamlining the various tools used by teams to manage the phases and processes in the resource capacity supply chain. I created a design framework to integrate these tools, provide a single source of truth for data points, and optimize physical capacity fulfillment through automation, all within a unified interface.

Global Capacity Delivery (GCD), Global Server Operations (GSO), and Global Logistics (GLO) teams govern and execute the physical fulfillment and execution phases for Google's capacity supply chain.Â

GOAL & VISION
Enable our customers to gain visibility into and manage physical fulfillment optimization, through a unified and great user experience
Our team's goal is to create tools for insights, automation, and resource management in cloud computing for Alphabet and Google Cloud customers.
We successfully transitioned existing capabilities into the new product platform with our initial launch. This "lift and shift" approach allowed users to test drive the new user experience and provide valuable insights to guide the development of future features within our comprehensive design system.
CHALLENGES
Through close collaboration with research, we uncovered key insights regarding fragmentation of tools, poor visibility, inefficient triaging processes, and the lack of automation. I facilitated a series of workshops with the product and UX team to better grasp customer needs and prioritize solutions.

PRODUCT EXCELLENCE
During the transition to the new platform, I assumed a leadership role in overseeing the integration of new tools and product features. I facilitated a series of design review sessions with the aim of maintaining a high standard of user experience. This was achieved through a combination of fostering transparency, promoting alignment, and ensuring consistency among the team members. My objective was to guarantee that the end-result would meet the highest standards in terms of user experience and overall design quality.

 Outcome
Upon joining the team, I quickly set to work on the development and launch of the new UFO platform. With the goal of maximizing the transparency, efficiency, and insights offered by Google, we were able to create a platform that significantly improved physical fulfillment optimization and provided greater ease in terms of governance.
Our team's efforts paid off as the new platform was launched within a year of my joining the team. The UX design framework that we employed delivered a scalable platform that simplified capacity fulfillment governance and execution, resulting in a seamless user experience. And the success of this framework has not gone unnoticed - it continues to be implemented across a growing number of our products, further demonstrating its efficacy and scalability.
